Ocular Disease Resident Optometrist

Dr. Gelhaus

Dr. Shelby Gelhaus joined Georgia Eye Partners in 2023 to begin her post-doctoral training as an Ocular Disease Resident Optometrist. Originally from Ohio, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University. During her undergraduate studies as a pre-optometry student, she volunteered her time to help at many iSee and Realeyes programs throughout Northwest Ohio. She then attended Kentucky College of Optometry where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in May 2023. While at Kentucky, she completed externship training with an emphasis in ocular disease at both Milan Eye Center in Buford, GA and Bennett and Bloom Eye Centers in Louisville, KY. Shelby served as the Private Practice Club President for her optometry school where she planned and hosted on-campus events with industry partners and business leaders within the optometric profession. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Student Optometric Leadership Network (SOLN) executive board. Dr. Gelhaus is deeply devoted to the field of optometry and is grateful to be back in Georgia learning from all the doctors at Georgia Eye Partners.

In her free time, you can find Shelby attending CrossFit classes, hiking, or exploring the city with friends.
