Joella Martire, O.D.
Dr. Joella Martire joined Georgia Eye Partners in July 2020 as a resident optometrist in refractive surgery and ocular disease. She is looking forward to working with the GEP team to provide the best possible eye care to the greater Atlanta area and to serve the Atlanta community.
Dr. Jo is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In her time there, she partook in Low Vision research prior to beginning her journey into Optometry. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Jo discovered her passion for eye care and optometry through research, and continues to pursue this foundation to her passion by completing her Masters of Science in Low Vision research at the New England College of Optometry.
In the past year of clinical rotations, Dr. Jo has trained at Eye Consultants of Colorado, the VA Hospital in Boston, various greater Boston area community health centers and in specialty clinics including low vision, contact lens, and individuals with disabilities. Dr. Jo provides eye exams in French, Spanish, and Italian to best accommodate her patients.
Her passion for eye care extended into being a part of her Student Council through her time at the New England College of Optometry as well as participating in her schools VOSH community, as well as partaking in a VOSH missions trip to the Dominican Republic.
In her free time, you can find Joella discovering the city through food, reading, cycling, hiking, and traveling.
